If former President Donald Trump runs out of women for his p#$%@ grabbing, I know where he should seek candidates.
I worry about former President Donald Trump. One of his favorite pastimes has come under fire. And it’s not the recent trial or five million-dollar payout that worry me, it’s the lack of new candidates available for this hobby.
The former President has made no secret of this predilection. Now you may have hobbies like golf, or perhaps pickleball, or poker that continue to pull at you. But not Trump, he had no problem admitting that he likes to grab women by the p#$%@, or seize their ass, or brush against their breasts. Or all the above. At the very same time
Unfortunately, with women continuing to accuse him of these unwelcome attacks, Trump may find attractive prospects scarce. What a dilemma! Who can save him from this possible dearth?
I have an idea: it has been reported that two-thirds of Republicans would still vote for Trump even if he is found guilty of a crime. (NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.) That’s a lot of people, right?
Surely these devoted Republicans have wives and daughters. Why not encourage these female kinfolks -- who are Trump devotees -- to travel to Mar-a-Lago and line up as candidates? Of course, I’m not nominating those conservative women who themselves were victims of sexual abuse. They are excused.
Think of the problems solved by this coterie of contestants! And Trump has had experience running, and um, interrupting beauty contests. But that’s another pile of accusations against our former president.
This line up of gals would be preselected, as opposed to his random adventures around the world. And consider the absence of aspirants pulling for headlines and huge payouts.
Trump has been quoted as mocking the appearance of his accusers, saying they are not his type. If the Republican womenfolk are his entrants, we know they will be his preferred color (white) and intelligence (rightwing). None of his disdaining remarks expected.
Now age may be a problem. Trump has made no secret that he prefers the recipients of his p#$%@, ass, and breast grabbing to be on the young side. And while pro-Trump senior Republican women might have no difficulty lifting their wardrobe for their once world leader, their female offspring might object.
“But Dad, Trump is so old,” I can hear them complaining.
“It’s for the good of the country,” Republican Dad might counter.
Although a good percentage of Americans, who are not Republicans, may find Trump’s pastime to be odd, offensive, or even sexual abuse, our former president is rather proud of this behavior. After all, he was recorded as smugly proclaiming in 2005, “I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. ... Grab 'em by the p#$%@. You can do anything."
Some Republicans might insist that this 2005 conversation was “locker room talk.” And that description might’ve held. But now, with E. Jean Carroll and Jessica Leeds disclosing their real-life experiences –in a posh department store dressing room and an airplane’s first-class flight – that excuse might not suffice. These are women not typically discussed in the safe havens of sweaty, braggadocio males.
Although the accusations of Carroll and Leeds are now in the headlines, in an article published for ABC News September 18, 2020, we learned that Trump was not particular as to where his hands strayed. Writer Meghan Keneally reported that “At least 18 women have accused Donald Trump of varying inappropriate behavior, including allegations of sexual harassment or sexual assault.”
Along with Carroll and Leeds, in the same article, Kristin Anderson said that Trump put his hand up her skirt to her underwear in the early 1990s. Jill Harth said she had dinner with Trump and her then-boyfriend, George Houraney, in 1992 when Trump allegedly tried to put his hands between her legs.
Karena Virginia said Trump grabbed her arm and groped her breast. Mindy McGillivray said Trump grabbed her rear end while she was working as a photographer's assistant at a 2003 event at Mar-a-Lago.
These accusations have continued to puzzle me: Trump has had three marriages: to Ivana Trump, Marla Maples, and Melania Trump. When these women first met Trump, did their potential match put his hands on them? Or did his wealth and celebrity override this bizarre approach?
Were these women aware that during their wedded years their husband was a pervert? Or were Ivana, Marla, and Melania blinded by wealth and prenuptial agreements? How they are handling the headlines now. And what about Trump’s daughter, Ivanka?
How about Trump’s accusers. Could any of them still vote Republican? Could they still pledge allegiance to a party that has allowed their brutish prospective nominee to attempt to trash their true-life experiences?
I doubt they would vote for Trump again. But could they remain aboard a Republican ship steered by an admitted sexual assaulter?
